For National Aboriginal Day, I thought I’d post some photos of one of British Columbia’s Aboriginal Museums.
‘Ksan Historical Village is in the community of Hazelton in Northwestern British Columbia. The former village of the Gitxsan people, Gitanmaax, was once also near the site of the museum. The location is where the Bulkley and Skeena Rivers meet, so was an important trading location.
‘Ksan Historical village is a recreated Gitxsan village, designed to look like an original village from the pre-contact period. All these photos were taken outside; there was no photography allowed inside the buildings. There are displays of traditional materials and artifacts within the houses, as well as areas reconstructed to resemble the original dwelling interiors.
These photos were taken with my dual Samsung ES25 cameras.
